I am currently trying to set text within a desktop application, and am trying to use the "Desktop Set Text" command. When using the recorder I click the field needing input and the recorder window does not respond to any clicks in the app or the "F2" button. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi UMAASH001,

I have one query related to the Visual FoxPro. Can you please share which version you are working on? For the above suggestion - Desktop Set Text command. Provide these inputs to the properties for the Desktop Set Text command. If the textbox is already having text - When you record the attributes you get, for every checkbox of every attribute, make sure name attribute is deselected.

  1. Text to set - "xyz{ENTER}" (Example text - xyz)
  2. Clear text - Set Yes/No as you wish
  3. Click element - Set No
  4. Enable interpolated keys - Yes Please let me know if its worked for you.

Hey POOMAL001,

Thank you for suggesting the interpolated hot key; upon your suggestion I did try it, and it still will not work. The program I am wanting to automate is built on Visual FoxPro. I wonder if this is a compatibility issue?

Hi UMAASH001,

Thankyou for sharing your query. One suggestion I would give you that when you are using Desktop Set Text command, you can find an option of enable interpolated keys. If you set the enable interpolated keys as Yes - While you set text you can also pass "F2" button, meaning you can send the keystroke along with it. For example - The text you want to set is "xyz", then you can pass the "F2" key in this way - "xyz{F2}" but make sure the enable interpolated keys is set to yes. Please try it this way and let me know in case of any queries.
